Ayodhya - Varanasi - Prayagraj

Known as Banaras previously, Varanasi is a historical city with much spiritual significance for the Hindus in India. Along the same lines, Kashi houses the Kashi Vishwanath temple which contains one of the 12 jyotirlingas. These cities are considered the oldest cities in India and beget their popularity due to the temples devoted to Lord Shiva. These pilgrimage sites are famed for their ancient ghats and worship of the inimitable river Ganges. In the vicinity, you will also find Prayagraj or Allahabad ensconced in the Northern Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. Here, you can also witness the Triveni Sangam, the meeting of the three holy rivers – the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati – to then flow together as one. Lord Ram, one of the principal deities of Hinduism and the seventh Avatar of Vishnu, was born here. A holy dip in the Saryu River is considered highly auspicious.
