Explore Ladakh

Ladakh is a mountainous area in North India also called the "country of high mountain passes." The capital of Ladakh, Leh, is located at 3500 metres above sea level in the Great Himalayan, Karakoram, Zanskar, and Ladakh ranges. Ladakh is famed for its isolated alpine scenery and monasteries and stupas. Because of its proximity to Tibet and strong ties to Tibetan culture, Ladakh is frequently referred to as "Little Tibet."

Day 1

Ladakh, We are Here (Arrival in Leh | City Tour) 3505/ 1156 feet

Arrive at Leh Kushok Bakula Airport , 3500metre above sea level. Our representative will be there to welcome you. Proceed to the hotel which is a 25 minute drive away. Refreshment will serve on arrival at the hotel. Enjoy rest of the day at lesiure to acclimatize to the conditions. You are advised not to consume any hard or soft drinks and avoid smoking. In the evening enjoy a tour around Leh city like SHANTI STUPA and GYALSON TSEMO/ LEH PALACE. Later, in evening walk around charming Leh Market.

Overnight stay at Hotel.

Tour of Hemis, Thiksey Shey monastery 3 Idiots School Campus Sindhu Darshan

After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to visit Hemis Monastery situated 45km west of Leh; Hemis is the largest and the wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. From Hemis, you are driven back taking the same route to visit Thiksey Monastery, located on a hillock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Return to the hotel and Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh to Kargil 6/7 Hrs drive

After breakfast, proceed to Kargil en-route visiting Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia) , Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), Pathar Sahib Gurdwara, Indus & Zanskar river Sangam, drive along the Indus river visiting, Likir Monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys Dharma Wheel Gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive Buddha statues , the monastery of Mulbekh & Lamayuru & Moonlandscape passing through Namkila & Fatula Passes. Overnight stay at Kargil

Kargil to Leh via Batalik ( 06 /7 Hrs drive)

After breakfast drive back to Leh via Batalik en-route visit Dha Hannu , Achinathang , Domkhar , Skubuchan and 1000 year old Alchi monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Overnight at Leh.

Tour to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass ( 18380 ft. )

After breakfast drive to visit Nubra valley via Khardung La Pass (Highest Motor able road in the world situated at the height of 18380 feet above sea level). Wear sufficient warm clothes as the drive takes you Khardung La Pass, which at 18380 feet, is said to be the highest motorable road on earth.

The distance between Leh and Nubra valley is 118 Km with a smooth road upto to South Pullu, the first stop. While ascending gradually towards the top of Khardung La , the road becomes bumpy. At the Top, take a break for a while to experience the magnificent view of Leh city and the surrounding mountains, thereafter start descending towards the Nubra valley where we make our second stop at North Pullu.

Thereafter, you drive on the smooth road once again straight to the Hotel at Hunder village. As you reach the village of Hunder, you are in the valley, known as Ldumra, that means the valley of flowers. After checking-in at the Hotel, explore the sand dunes that stretch from Hunder to Diskit along the Nubra and Shyok Rivers. Watch out for the two humped Bactrian camel that is found only in this part of India and Central Asia. Overnight stay at Hotel.

Pangong (Excursion to Diskit Monastery | Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso)

Enjoy breakfast under a clear sky on the river bank and then travel to Diskit Monastery in the Disket village (the capital of Nubra valley) . Mark this day as the highlight of your fabulous trip as you visits the Diskit Monastery and the Pangong Tso.

As you near the Disket village, you can view the huge 106-feet high statue of Maitreya Buddha atop a hill. The monastery has intriguing images of many deities. Some claim that the hand of a demon killed near the monastery is also kept here, all wrinkled and eerie.

Thereafter continue travel to Pangong via Shyok village. One of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world and the highest salt water lake, the crystal blue waters of the Pangong Tso Lake impeccably reflect the brown mountains around making for a picture perfect postcard. You stay at the campsite for the night, under a star-spangled sky.

Back to Leh (Pangong Tso to Leh via Chang-La | Excursion to Rancho’s School)

Wake up to a mesmeric sunrise above the lake, and then head back to Leh. On the way, cross the approximately 17400-feet high Chang La Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the world.

Along the way, pay a visit to the Druk White Lotus School, that shot to fame with the movie ‘3 Idiots’ as the site where the last scene was shot. After exploring it , reach Leh, where you can spend some time at leisure.

A delicious dinner waits you at the hotel; thereafter, get a good night’s sleep in your room.
