Ladakh Delight

Ladakh has some of the tallest passes in the world and that is why it is also called the “land of high mountain passes”. Situated at least 3,500 Kms above sea level, the main city Leh lies enclosed between the great Himalayan, Karakoram, Zanskar, and Ladakh ranges. Famed for its alpine scenery, monasteries, and stupas, Ladakh is close to Tibet and is frequently referred to as “Little Tibet”.

Day 1

Arrival At Leh

When you arrive in Leh, you will be greeted by our representative, who will assist you in finding your hotel accommodation and will also serve you a welcome drink. To avoid HAS or High Altitude Sickness, it is recommended that you get a good rest. For the remainder of the day, get accustomed to Ladakh’s high-altitude weather.

Leh –Indus valley monastery Tour

Set out on a journey, to visit some of the most beautiful monasteries and palaces. This will be a full-day tour of the Indus Valley, as you drive along the River Indus. You will also get to see the Shey Palace, Mini Potala-like monastery or the Thiksey monastery – all belonging to the Kings of Ladakh. A wonderful statue of Maitrey Buddha is in the offing at one of the locales. Thereafter, you get to visit the richest and largest monastery in Ladakh, the Hemis, and then return back to Leh by dusk.

Leh To Nubra Valley Via Khardung LA

Today – have a sumptuous breakfast and get on the ride to visit the Nubra Valley passing through Khardung La. This elevated region is at a height of 18,380 ft and considered the world’s highest motorable pass. We have to drive around 39 Kms from Leh to get to Khardung La, which will also be the highest point of the rip. The attraction cannot be missed. Feel the altitude, the chilly wind, the beauty of the land and the expanse of the town that lies beneath. Drink in its memory – for it will be afternoon and now, you have to get to Nubra Valley. You will spend the rest of the day exploring Hunder Village, ride the Bactrian Camel across the sand dunes and visit the Diskit Monastery. We get back to camp by evening.

Nubra Valley – Leh

Another beautiful and adventurous day awaits you after your breakfast. We get to explore the unique culture and lifestyle of the people who live in the northernmost regions of India. You also get to visit the Diskit Monastery, which is the oldest and largest monastery founded by the famed Lama Jangsem Sherab Zangpo. Check out the 32-meter-high statue located here known as Gyalwang Chamba or Maitreya Buddha. It is also a landmark, here, in Nubra valley, as the structure is situated atop a hill. You can also see the meandering Shayok River flowing across the plains. Get your last-minute shopping done as you get time to roam around the bazaars of Leh – there are some wonderful pearls, pashmina shawls, cutleries and wooden handicrafts native to Ladakh. Take them with you as memories.

Leh - Pangong

A great breakfast should energise you to drive down via Chang La pass to Pangong. This is the third highest motorable pass in the world at an altitude of 17,590 ft. The Pangong Lake forms part of the border between India and China. From a height of almost 4,350m along the world’s highest saltwater lake, the view here is magnificent – you will see azure blue waters that are striking against the mountains around it. The lake gets its name from the Tibetan term "Pangong Tso," which means "high grassland lake." It is also one of the most well-known lakes in Leh Ladakh and noted for changing colours, looking blue, green, and red at various times.

Pangong - Leh

We get back to Leh after a great breakfast where our tourists can take photographs across the lake. If you wish you can go visit the Hemis Monastery which is just about 5 kms away in Kharu right across the Indus River. You can also take a tour around the Hemis and Thiksey Monastery complexes. We should be getting back to Leh by afternoon, after which you are free to leisurely explore Ladakh near you, do some shopping and other activities.

Depart Leh

Say your sweet goodbyes to beautiful Ladakh as you head to Leh Airport to either fly back to your destination or fly onward.
